LEED Gold
Certification Pending |
August 2008 -
In the interest of updating on-campus
housing, Gallatin Hall underwent a complete
gut and renovation. Originally constructed
in 1926, this 4-story, U-shaped, brick and
wood building is an MBA student residence
which encompasses 48,218 sq. ft.
The building houses 71 single, private
bedroom / bathroom combinations with each
floor featuring a common kitchen. In
addition, it accommodates staff offices, the
student newspaper, and a 2-story lounge with
bridge connector to the redesigned
courtyard.
The restoration and preservation of the
building facade lends points to Harvard’s
objective of achieving LEED Gold
Certification for the project. Work
progressed on this busy occupied campus with
classes in session and special consideration
for site safety and truck traffic.
