- April, 2008) The Houghton Memorial Chapel
was originally constructed in 1899. The
20,162 SF multi-faith Chapel has undergone
extensive renovations over a ten-month
period encompassing a total gut and fit-up
of the ground floor plan.
The scope of work included demolition of the
basement walls and slab and existing
flooring in the main chapel. New mechanical,
electrical and plumbing systems, including
new basement rooms and finishes have been
installed. The building has received ADA
upgrades including; handicap access and an
elevator. Life safety upgrades include fire
protection and a fire alarm system
throughout.
Special steps were taken to protect the
historic structure’s organ, stain glass and
surrounding trees while working on the
occupied campus. |
