(Cambridge, MA - 05 October 2007)
Richard White Sons' staff were
honored to participate in the
dedication ceremonies of
Massachusetts Institute of
Technology's PDSI project. The
New Physics and Department of
Material Science Headquarters,
Laboratories and Classrooms consists of a
4-story, 48,000 SF "infill" building
constructed in an existing
courtyard. It is bound on four sides
by existing buildings with bridge
connections to three of the
Buildings. It includes classrooms,
faculty office spaces and
laboratories.
|
Mechanical and electrical systems
are housed in the new building,
providing infrastructure to upgrade
the mechanical and electrical
systems in adjoining buildings. The
surrounding buildings numbers Four,
Six and Eight underwent major
renovations consisting of 200,000 SF
of work.
Extensive coordination with the
client was ongoing to ensure
uninterrupted operations of the
occupied spaces during construction.
