Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce Presents Outstanding Corporation Award

Richard White Sons, Inc. was presented the Outstanding Corporation Award by the Newton
- Needham Chamber of Commerce on November
22, 2005 at the Sheraton Needham Hotel.

The Chamber hosted the 2005 Annual Achievement Awards which celebrated outstanding members of the community. The meeting featured keynote speaker, Roger Berkowitz, CEO and President of Legal Sea Foods.

Master of Ceremonies, Scott Lennon, Alderman for the City of Newton, summarized the firm's exemplary community service with the following comments;

  • A long standing member of the Chamber
    since 1931

  • A long time supporter of Newton Police and Fire Departments through annual fund donations

  • Members of the Newton Historical Society

  • Fourth generation family business for 100 years, all in Newton (3rd & 4th generation family members of the firm still reside in Newton)

  • Currently active member (Ed White, Chairman of RWS) on the Newton Designer Selection Committee that recently selected Graham Gund as Newton North High School project architect

  • The firm has constructed many notable projects in Newton and Needham including several branch banks for Newton - Waltham Bank and then BayBank Middlesex, Conte Forum and Alumni Stadium at Boston College, Corpus Christi Church, Brimmer & May School projects, Newton City Hall (portions of) and Newton Cemetery, Woodland Golf Club, Olin College of Engineering Building A, and several St. Sebastian's School projects.

  • Richard White Sons has constructed many notable buildings for community service based non-profits including; Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries Headquarters, Family Service of Greater Boston's New Headquarters, Pedestrian Arcade on Boston's City Hall Plaza, Mosesian Theatre / Watertown Center for the Arts, Christian Science Church, etc.

  • They are involved with annual active participation with (Boston Chapter) the National Non-Profit, Rebuilding Together, which focuses on home repairs and improvements for low-income homeowners in cities for no cost to the recipients (www.rebuildingtogetherboston.org)
