Wellesley College Wang Campus Center Dedication

Wellesley College's Lulu Chow Wang Campus Center dedication took place on Friday, October 21, 2005. The College was joined by staff, students, alumni, friends and Richard White Sons, Inc. to dedicate their new campus center. Events consisted of a building tour and open house.

The dedication ceremony is the culmination of a two year project in which Richard White Sons, Inc. was the Construction Manager, contracted to construct a new Campus Center on the Wellesley College campus. The Center is a 60,000 square foot, 4-story building with two pedestrian bridges to College Road. It is the final phase of the West Campus projects for the College which included; the Renewal of Alumnae Valley, a new Trade Shops facility, a Parking Garage and Campus Police Headquarters.

The facility houses a variety of lounges and "hang-out" spaces, numerous meeting spaces for 150 student organizations, mailboxes, post office, lockers, a coffee shop, three dining venues, a convenience store, a new pub - Punch’s Alley, campus bookstore and a large multi-purpose space for student functions. The multi-purpose space is the building’s most prominent feature.
The room has an eighty-foot high ceiling and light scoop which brings illumination into the space.

The exterior is constructed of various colored slate shingles in irregular patterns, copper trim with copper panels in various locations and large glass curtain walls. The building is nestled in the trees and slope along College Road and is located adjacent to the renewed Alumnae Valley landscape site which offers stunning views from the Campus Center across the valley overlooking Lake Waban.

Richard White Sons is an Auburndale, Mass. based Construction Management firm founded in 1905.  For 100 years they have provided Construction Management and General Contracting services to corporate and institutional clients throughout New England.
