JAMAICA
PLAIN, Mass. -- March 23, 2001: Nativity
Preparatory School, a Catholic boys school serving
grades five through eight, recently acquired a
building in Jamaica Plain, and, together with
Landfall Development, CBT Architects, and Richard
White Sons, finalized plans in February to
transform the three-story brick and timber-framed
industrial building into a modern school facility.

Starting
in March, Richard White Sons will gut the
building's interior to make way for new
classrooms, a multi-purpose assembly room,
offices, computer training facility, chapel, and
library. The architecture includes a glass curtain
wall system to create a new entrance, providing a
distinguishing feature and encouraging natural
illumination on three levels. To satisfy a wide
range of educational requirements, space will also
be devoted to art, science, technology, and music.
Included in the scope of work are repairs to the
timber framing and structural steel infill to
accommodate the new multi-purpose assembly room.
The masonry façade will be restored, and the
building will receive a new roof, new windows, and
an elevator. Construction will be complete in the
last quarter of 2001. Richard White Sons Inc., is
an Auburndale, MA-based Construction Management
firm founded in 1905. For nearly 100 years, they
have provided Construction Management and General
Construction services to private institutional
clients throughout New England.
