to support online enterprises, Web hosting, and
the availability 24x7 of professional IT staff to
engineer, troubleshoot and run customer systems.
These specialists draw together high levels of
expertise in systems architecture, IP networking,

e-commerce business. The Data Center is designed
with triple redundant power systems that include
connections to the power utilities; back up power
supplies and diesel generators that can run for
days without refueling; inert gas and dry pipe
sprinkler systems that protect equipment from fire
and inadvertent water damage; and motion detectors
and cameras for safeguarding the equipment and the
facility. In the unlikely event that a cable is
cut, data will be rerouted to users in
milliseconds with no noticeable effect on
performance.
Global
Center's East Region Construction Manager, Tim
Hughes, described the project as extraordinarily
challenging in its architectural, structural,
technological, life safety and management
requirements.
Don
White, project principal for Richard White says,
"The advantages we offer Global Center are
self-performance of excavation, utility and
infrastructure development along with the
resources of J. C. Higgins for mechanical design
and construction, Mass Electric for electrical
contracting and design support, and Dorwin Thomas
for architectural coordination.
Others on
the Owner's project team are: Gyzen &
Associates Architects of Irvine, CA; mechanical
engineering, Einhorn Yaffee Prescott, Los Angeles,
and DP Mechanical, Cameron Park, CA; and
telecommunications consulting by EYP Mission
Critical Group, New York, NY.
