Olin College Selects Construction Firm for New
Student Center |

(Needham, Mass.,
July 10, 2000) - Richard White Sons of Newton has
been awarded the construction contract for the
student center and campus power plant at the new
Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in
Needham.
|
The 71,600 sq.
ft. building will house the dining facilities,
campus store, a cafe and various student services.
The heating, cooling, and electrical power plant
component includes distribution of services
throughout
the campus. The student center and
utility infrastructure project are the first of
four structures to be built in phase one
construction at the new engineering college. Each
additional building
will be bid separately.

Funded by a gift
of more than $300 million from the F. W. Olin
Foundation of New York, Olin College is scheduled
to open in fall 2001. The college will feature a
technology-rich campus and a cutting-edge
engineering curriculum incorporating hands-on
projects and entrepreneurial thinking. Architect
for the campus is Perry Dean Rogers and Partners
of Boston.
