The Paint Shop Pond site was a 16 acre paint-factory-dumping area which eventually contaminated over 37 acres of the campus. This remediation undertaking included the dredging and restoration of Paint Shop Pond and creating playing fields on top of the treated and permanently contained materials.
Over 4,000 soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water samples were taken to determine the types and extent of the contamination.
Sixteen separate State and Federal agency permits were required to commence the project.
7.3 acres of newly created wetlands were re-vegitated and restored to their original condition.
