St. Sebastian's School, Birmingham Academic Building Addition and Renovation

Needham, MA

A three story, 20,000 SF lateral addition to the existing classroom building, was constructed concurrently with the renovation of a 53,000 SF existing academic building, successfully in time for fall semester classes.

The addition houses a 350-seat dining hall / kitchen, 100-seat lecture hall which converts to a performing arts center, classrooms, library, science labs, and expanded space for the music, art, and drama departments.

The lead coated copper roof above the chapel acts as a skylight angling natural light down through the cathedral ceiling to the seating below.

Preconstruction logistical planning was extensive as the addition site was busy with student drop-off and pick-up and summer sports camps.
