Ursuline Academy, Science Wing Addition and Classroom Building Renovation

Dedham, MA

This lateral addition of 18,000 SF building has three levels of science laboratory classrooms, computer labs, art classrooms, and teacher offices. Additionally, the scope included a 45,000 SF summer renovation of existing classrooms.

A densely populated neighborhood, accessible only from a one-way street, required the Project Team to execute extreme diligence in safely coordinating equipment / material deliveries.

Construction occurred on the active campus throughout the school year as well as during the summer when popular camp programs were in session. The occupied campus required added vigilance when planning site logistics, deliveries, and safety protocols.

The stair tower roof is capped with an iconic lead-coated copper cupola which compliments the existing classroom wing, and has helped serve as the building's new identity.
